I have a question and no answer today: How do we resolve the tension between efficiency and innovation in medicine? Innovation is needed. I don’t know who would argue that things do not need to change and improve. But innovation is messy and wasteful. It is challenging to convince people in medicine to take measured risks, based on demonstrated results and proof. How does anyone manage to innovate? There is not a lot of space to do it. Genuinely asking - How do people in medicine make space to innovate? What approaches are successful? Where are people talking about this?
